What was the most painful or worst injury you have ever had in any sport or activity?
For me, Yesterday I went Snowboarding at Mt. High in Cali. About 2:30 I was making a jump and I was kinda tired. I cleared the jump and had pulled a grab when the nose of my board arced into the snow, nose first. I did something extremely painful to my right knee. As I lay there facedown in the snow, I thought that I had broken my legs, because I couldn't move them. When I realized that it was just my board caught in some slushy powder, I tried to crawl forward on my elbows. That hurt. So, I slid down the side of the jump on my ass, and when I hit the bottom I crumpled up like a little ragdoll thrown into a corner. I made it down to the bottom of the Mountain, my dad drove home and I put a heat pad on it when I got home. That made it worse. The heat pad made it swell up really badly, so now I can't hardly walk on it. I talked to the school nurse dude, and he says that I probably didn't tear the ACL, which I would have needed surgery to fix, but that the tissue between the two bones may have folded up on itself, in which case, I need to stay off of it, Ice it, and let it heal. Ironically, I was snowboarding in 6 inches of powder, and I have to Ice the knee now. I wish I had known that yesterday! I would have just laid there facedown for an hour or so. But, anyways, I hope it gets better soon.

Hm... worst I ever had? If broken bones are the theme I broke my pinky last year. Left it to heal on its on without bothering with doctors.
Otherwise, it'd be the time I went smack into a wall in school when I was 9 or so. Had to have 13 stitches and a scar on my forehead. Booya...

I was run over by a car when I was 9, and broke my leg in 3 places. I have wicked-mad scars from it.

Hmm... well I can remember 2. One was they were fixing the side of the road by the park, and they put like wood planks so people can still walk on it. On one of those wood planks, there's this like hole... and since I was aying good bye to one o fmy friends, and walking without looking... my foot like slid through that small hole thingy, and bascally.. scratched my whole leg/sliced? XD from like bottome leg up to mid-thigh. @_@ big wound.
other time was, I was playing with my bike at this not busy road, and I saw my mom's car so I tried to race after it... I dind't see the speed hump... or maybe I did, but too late to brake... I hit the speed bump, flew from my bike and landed on well the pavement, and my arm didn't look good... that's all I can say. :3 Tons of wounds... and I stil have the scars. XD

ouch nightshade!! i hope youre okay >.>
well i think the worst for me was from when i was about 6 years old. I still lived in my old house, and there mustave been a million stairs to get to it (i lived on a hilly place) and the stairs were all different shaped and some were larger than the other. Well one day i tripped and fell from halfway of the concrete stairs and fell to the bottom tumbling and sorts. I only wound up with a couple of bruises and scratches.
another time i was in shop class and i was cutting sheet metal and my teacher had gotten mad at me for cutting the metal a bit too big and i had gotten mad and grabbed my piece of metal too quickly or whatever and i cut myself then. I just bled a lot but there wasnt a need for stictches >.> ( and my teacher had gotten mad that i bled on his shop floor. harumph.)

Luv up there had better be fine or ima kick his butt... :slurp:
Well, the worst for me would have to be when I was breaking horses, our family (my sister and I) weren't getting along so well with my dads' friends family, finally being fed up with having to fight over who rode, I got brave and told my dad I was going to ride an unbroken horse and break her in a few minutes, not knowing wtf I was doing I got up on the horse and I felt her hunch up...I was thrown off and landed on my back, the horses hoof came down on my skull just above my eye and cracked my skull (strong word but it was open enough to bleed) I had blood in my eye and in my hair but I got back on her and she was good to ride from then on ^.^ that's what I get for being stubborn. yup, that's my worst one...or that I can remember anyways...
Hope you feel better soon hun..

My worst would be the injury that caused the scar on my knee. I was jump rope racing when I was 8-ish and the asphalt was really rought. Like it was almost gravel but it was a bit smoother than that. So I was running/jumping and I tripped on the jump rope. My knee skid against the rough pavement and took off lots of layers of skin. It was during the summer so I couldn't go swimming the whole summer. The scar that I have now is concentrated on the kneecap in the form of a button-like scar. It's quite ugly how it pops out.
Ouch shinotenshi, that sounds painful. Luckily I never broke any bones.

The worst one happened when I was about 10. I accidentally 'put' a foot into a cycling wheel. Well, I can't remember it properly how it happened because all I saw was = blood = everywhere.

It's strange, y'know. Even when I was bleeding on the head, I distictly remember only a short sharp pain to the head and then seeing (what I thought was) read paint dripping on my hand. The next thing I knew was my classmates calling the teachers to me. Like Shinotenshi I didn't feel any pain until that mad doctor took a needle to my forehead... >_<
Pikachu's bike accident reminds me of my bro. A year or two after we moved to this place me and my bro would go cycling around looking for the steepest, longest slopes we could find and climbed all the way up with our bikes and made a U-turn back down. It was during one of those rides when my bro's bike hit a real big rock while coming down the slope. He and his bike flew a couple yards down the road. He lost chunks of skin EVERYWHERE....
But the person who bled the most in an incident would be my mom... last year, at the end of the Chinese New Year, my mom became a victim of snatch theft. The biker zoomed past her and snatched up her hand bag on the way. For some reason the handbag got tangled with her elbow and she was dragged several feet on the tar road before the bag finally dislodged. Thankfully she had her car keys with her, and managed to drive home. You can't imagine how I felt when I came down to greet my mom's return, only to see her in a bloody mess...

Every accident I've ever had on my knee.. i had around 6 of them for the past two years. It's a rare case that women get (thats what the orthopedics say). My knee cartilage is very thin from all of my accidents.. where the patella aka knee cap juts out of place and at fortunate times snaps back. LIke my entire leg has been twisted... it hurts like hell and the internal bleeding at cases makes my toes blue. My last accident was stupid though.
i was sitting down reaching for a book.
yeah... that weird.. in my next accident i'm due to have my knee caps surgically done. but so far so good.. nothing so far :3 the only thing i can do is feel optomistic. though wearing a knee brace while exercising for life is a bitch *___*
and from the way shino and nighty described their accidents i just can't help but cringe... anything that concerns bones breaking just scares the shit out of me... not ever walking again is one of my greatest fears.

My worst injury happened when I was 4, I was just playing around at my house when I fell and my foot got cut on a rusty dustpan. There was quite a bit of blood lost, but there wasn't a need for stitches. I have a scar on my left foot.
Wow, my injury seems like it was nothing to what you guys went through. Well, I suppose whatever I don't have in severity of the injury, I more than make up in the quantity. I'm a very unlucky person, all sorts of stuff happens to me. But still, all that other stuff that has happened to you people just scares me.

I went to the doctor's yesterday after I started this thread. Yes, it was a slightly torn, impacted or otherwise messed up miniscus; the tissue between the two bones. I got this neoprene knee brace that I have to wear for the next two weeks, no snowboarding for the next two weeks, etc. Oh well...It could have been worse...I could have fallen on a rail and landed on my balls...

=.= sounds tough.. for two weeks huh? but at least it's not overly serious that you'd need surgery. Does your knee brace come with these metal suport things that also allow you to bend your knee?
Nightshade
02-20-2004, 12:42 PM
No, it's a soft knee brace, but I still can't bend my knee all that well. You ought to see me go up and down stairs...I bet everyone would ejoy that...

02-20-2004, 12:49 PM
aaah.. going up and down the stairs with a knee brace XD i still had to go to school despite any condition.. and my classroom is always at the top floor... you have to do it one step at a time.. going up = good foot before bad foot. going down= bad foot before good foot. takes too much time.
haha! i remember the day my parents rushed me to the orthopedics. the damn place was at the third floor! no elevators. i had to hop my way there =.= sooo sucked.

cut my hand open making tea when I was 12... it was right near my wrist and I cut a vein, they tried to stop it bleeding but it wouldn't so they poked at it, man that hurt; nearly had to get a skin graft.
well...I dunno about the worst injury, but I know one of my dumbest.... I almost severed my ringfinger with a pair of safety scissors...

When I had my accident I had to go around school on crutches for a few weeks. Stairs were a nightmare, and some of the time I had to bum shuffle down which was way embarrassing XD;

heh, i remember this girl in my high school who had to go on crutches for some weeks. She asked the headmistress permission to change classes from her original (3 floors up) to another (1st floor).

Hm... The worst I've had after closing my finger in a car door and having my little toe stomped on by some girl's soccer cleat in a game would have to be...
When I was little, we would go to this picnic thrown together by Delta, my dad's work. So this year, there were lots of go-carts because that was the really cool, interesting hobby at the time. I was riding one with this girl, and since they didn't have seatbelts, it was rather dangerous. We were racing these boys in a cart before us and I told her to go fast, so she did and we hit this sharp turn. Since I was in the passenger seat, I didn't have anything to hold onto so I had flipped out of the car. Ripped the right side of my clothes, scraped my right knee, scarred my right side, and my right cheek. But it's healed now. ^_^

when i broke my ankle once in sports...it hurt so bad... and it was in summer and i had to wear this huge cast which was blazing hot. the whole experience really got me all depressed and after that i even got "addicted" to pain pills for a while. happy that's over...
When I was 7 or so, I hit my head on a wall on accident, and I cracked my head open. Not like my actual skull, but my scalp I guess. I had to have stitches. :)
I've also broken both of my pinky fingers. ;D

Multiple bruises are the only ones for me... let's make a thread with hospital stories and i'll have LOTS to say.
Anyways, multiple bruises from basketball are the farthest I've gone...

My worst injury was when I was in Gr. 5. I was biking with Dad. (we were on separate bikes... obviously lol)
And... I stood-ish up on my bike... while going down this hill. Usually, I have control. But I just lost it... and...
I was wearing shorts. I skidded ON MY KNEES along the side of the road, where ROCKS AND POSSIBLY GLASS linger.
ON MY KNEES.
^^;; They're only scraped... but still. There was lotsa blood. It was going down my leg when I was biking back home.
And it hurt...
And I have never broken a bone. XD

Here's the WORST pain I've ever had.
I think it was on a Tuesday afternoon when after using the bathroom, I felt this strange pain in my intestines. Now, it really, REALLY, REALLY hurt my stomach so bad, I had to lean against the wall. As I was making my way down the stairway during passing time, I groped my stomach to relieve the pain, and then..... *TRIP* I tripped down an entire flight of stairs bumping my head, shoulder, legs, arms, and then my face. But that wasn't the worst part. I was bleeding on my nose now, and the stomach pain was STILL there. Not only that, but instead of those damn kids helping me up, they all just laughed out loud at me. THAT'S what really hurt. Then I make my way to my English class, and I ask my teacher if she can write me a pass to the nurse to get a few bandages and to relieve the nosebleed. Oh, but did it stop there? NO. I tripped on a wet newspaper and fell flat on my face on the hallway. Again, the damn kids laughing at me. Sad thing was, there was this girl I really liked, and she was laughing at my pain also. I was so damn upset that day, and soon after that day, all those good for nothing students kept talking about me like I was the laughing stock in the school.
THAT REALLY HURT. Sure wasn't an injury, but it hurt me physically, and emotionally.

hmm im really safe lol.. but when i was small.. i was mad or something and i was banging the drawers, like getting them up and down.. i did it soo hard, and that time we were living in an apartment and our iron was on tope of it.. it is one of those kinds of 4 drawer kinds and then BAM. that iron hit my head so hard.. plus it was on. Thank god it was only the top pointy part so i was smal so i didnt notice, and i didnt want my parents to know but when i put it back up and went in the kitchen, my relatives and mom and dad were there.. and when they saw me.. my mom started to scream. i was like "whatsamatter?" and i felt something driping on my on my head.. and when i put my hand and checked if it was alright,... it was covered with blood.. heh.. it took like an hour for it to stop bleeding.. so i havent got stitches... but i still have that damn scar on my head. sorta like hpotter but his was loong.. mine it is like sorta covered by my hair.. so yeaahhh.
people in this thread are waaay more dangerous than i am. so yyeeehhh

My worst injury, well there's two equal, one I got tackled in a soccer game and it broke my right ankle. That one hurted so much, but it wasn't nasty. The second, in soccer again, I jumped in the air to head the ball, and the defender of the other team too, we collided, our heads hit eachother, then I was a little dizzy and I was still searching for the ball, and my friend just pushed me to the ground and said: "Don't move man". That's when I realize there was blood everywhere on my shirt, my left eyebrow was completely open, ripped horizontaly. The defender's forehead hitted my eyebrow and it opened. Blood was gushing out like crazy, and the bottom part was like suspending. Hehehe, ended up with 15 stitches haha :x The scar is a tad visible through my eyebrow, but when a girl ask me what happen, I simply said I fought against a shark! :-D
damn... I just cought my thumb in a mouse trap. its one of those industrial sized rat killers to boot. oww..... *sniffle*

For me, I think it was when I got my stomach pumped because of my food poisoning, or whatever it was. They had to drain me with a tube and fill me back up with the right nutrients; I felt like a car at a service pump. Mm... but... I don't think that's counted as an injury...?
