This for me makes me feel bad because I was a big barbie fan when I was a girl.. or rather I really wanted to play barbie but I alsways get stuck with the brunette cuz my older sister's the only one who could use barbie ;___; I loved collecting their clothes and shoes and stuff.. and it was fun. sad that ken had to be taken out of the picture >.< so sad... I didn't think that mattel would do that

Dood... check out the hair on that Blaine doll.... and I thought Ken's plastic hair was bad. Why does Blaine look like he's about 16? All the Ken dolls I remember looked 25-35 @_@; They should've just created some different looking Kens, like they have different looking Barbies.

I don't like this new trend >_> This structured "break in committment" story takes the fun out of imaginary play for kids and pushes it into the realm of pure media driven soap opera shit to humor adults u.u Toys exist so that children can make up their *own* stories about, in this case, people and how they relate to one another.

Mac is right! ;____; I mean.. when my sister and I used to play barbie.. its always that they go shopping for clothes for this big party and then they meet Ken and then whatever XD; Since Blaine is an aussie surfer kids and that Ken is off the picture.... it just doesn't seem appealing anymore. The story is slightly set for you already. and to think I want my future daughters to enjoy barbie dolls too XD;

Children still do play house and toy robots, etc. These kind of social games are an important part of childhood development. If we don't allow kids to use their own imaginations when constructing these stories, what it implies we're trying to do is create a conformist society.

Although one *could* argue that the whole idea of having "Barbie + Ken" in the first place is an attempt at conformism, too. After all, why's it not "Barbie + Tracy" or "Ken + Todd"?

They used to have more class before. Barbie is afterall not only a toy but also a collector's item. >.< I don't think people can consider somethin like Bratz as soemthing to collect... but rich kids might consider XD We could still have a Blaine doll anyway.. with or without a so-called break up between Barbie and Ken. The kids can make their own soap operas with a new doll if they wanted. it was very uncalled for. Maybe they could've made a new couple with the Blaine doll? More variety to sell anyway... and yeah, people are more inclined to collect?
