who here drinks? i do mean alcohol.
i realize that alcohol most of the time these days does nothing else other than make me horny. what are other people's experience with alcohol? share!
I be Eric must have a lot of cool things to say but he probably won't share it with us. ;_;
My first encounter with alcohol (that I can recall) was when I was six years old or so. I was a bit thirsty and was looking for something to drink so I swigged down a cup nearby thinking it was (lemon) tea or apple juice or something like that.
How wrong I was. I found out that it was white wine (or maybe champagne, well, whatever). ._.

Gravity loses its pull on me, I like to sit, a lot.
I also feel like I'm on a merry-go-round.
I'm a happy drunk. I don't start shit, etc... Sometimes when I'm really buzzed, then I dance because I'm too f'ing out of it to realize how embarrassing it is. Actually, the few times I've danced, it's because some girl I went with to a club physically dragged me onto the dance floor after having a few martinis and a few bottles of Sapparo for dinner. Ahahahaha. Thank god, no pictures!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let's see.
Home Brew (homeboy has a 6 gallon fermenter in his drom basement)
* NT's Nectarine Home Brew: dorm-made, high-yield yeast, 20 proof beer, most beer is like 5 proof
* NT's Stout Brew: dorm-made, basically Guinness, dark beer, good stuff, enough iodine in it for to last your body a few years
Commerically Avaiable Beer
* Heineken: Pretty good, one of the first beers I tried
* Tsingtao: Not bad too.
* Asahi: Dry beer, goes well with fish and such
* Sapparo: Best stuff, goes great with sushi. My favorite beer. Fairly expensive (usually around 8 bucks a bottle at restaurants or clubs) because it's imported.
* Guinness: Goes great without food, nice and thick
* Budweiser: Don't care much for it, eh
* Miller: If it's from the tap, it's pretty good. From the can, eh...
I had way more beer than this but I don't remember much about it, ahahahaha.
Hard Liqour
* Absolut Vodka: Great stuff, goes down smooth, actually fairly weak, only 80 proof (40% alcohol)
* Smirnoff Vodka: Worse than Absolut
* Southern Comfort: Not bad, don't care much for it
* Captain Morgan's Parrot Bay Coconut Rum: Good stuff, girls love it because it goes down easy, smells good, and gives you a nice buzz
* Bacardi 8 years aged Rum: Good stuff, goes well over ice, smells a lot better than the regular Bacardi Rum
* Bacardi 151: Oh man, this **** will **** you up. 151 proof, 75% alcohol (twice as much as Vodka). It goes down smooth, and once it hits your stomach, your stomach is on fire. Goes well straight or with pineapple juice
* Sake: It's okay, don't care much for it
Wine
* Good ol' Classic Pinot Noir Red Wine: Good stuff, goes well with any dinner
* White Wine: Don't care much for it
* Ice Wine: Best stuff, expensive (60-150 a bottle) and limited in supply. Very, very sweet dessert wine, goes well with dessert or alone. Best served chilled. Kinael helped me smuggle a case of 6 from Canada. Ahahaha.
Cognac
* Hennessey: Good stuff, smooth, smells great, not to mention expensive
* Remy Martin: Good stuff, strong stuff, smooth, smells great. Older Asian parents love this
Mixed Drinks
* Apple Martini: Great stuff, classy drink, nice buzz. Plus you get a cherry!
* Long Island: Great stuff especially on long hot day. A fast strong buzz. It's 4 shots of hard liqour.
* White Russian: eh....
* Marguritas: Good stuff, self explanatory
* Pina Colada: self explanatory
Okay, I think I typed enough up
Uh... I drink.
Alcool just makes me happy and enforces a sudden urge to dance even though I don't know how... :p
Stuff I like:
San Miguel Beer Light
San Miguel Beer Strong Ice
Vodka
Vodka Cruisers
Mudshakes
Tequilla
Margueritas
Looking back, I've never been drunk before, though some friends have tried.
I've only drunken (er, verbage?) Strawberry Daiquari, Red Wine, and Long Island Iced Tea. Faith and Yukie were trying to get me drunk on Yukie's birthday so Faith made me drink her Ice Tea as well, but it didn't work. Actually, I don't believe I've ever gotten drunk or even buzzed. .__.;;; Alcohol's done nothing but make me have a desire to find normal fruit juice to wash down the aftertaste.
Bah, wasting fine liquid. That liquid took months to brew or distill!
yay! i got something out of starting this thread...like wine...in case i wanted some.
being drunk makes my observation around spotty. like...a film that's skipping. when i drink, i usually try to be alert, aware of what's going on around me, and that's when i noticed how my senses became changed.
I like to drink when the dance floor is lit by blinking lights. :p
It feels like you're in a slow-motion movie and the visual effect s just so cool. :)
Drinking makes me sleepy, and it removes my inhibitions in such ways that I will say things to people that I would not normally say. Such as, what I *really* think of your new shirt, etc. I've never had so many that I've gotten sick from it, though I've been with many who have that problem, unfortunately.
I'm not a beer drinker, I only like white or blush wines (pinot grigio), and I have a taste for most mixed drinks, but I hate gin. I like drinks with cream or milk, like a butterball, and I love tequila and prefer it in shots.
The wierd thing is, I don't drink that much, now that I'm 21. It's like... I quit drinking before I turned legal. *shrugs*
It's usually because I don't want a hangover the next day (work or school) and I'm always driving my friends around.
It's basically a must-do for underaged in Finland to get drunk every weekend and then brag about in school on Monday. It's kind of pathetic, really. Expecially since most of them are 13-year-old wannabes, who just like to show how 'grown-up' they are. And when they're drunk of course everyone is necking everyone else and it's just...bleh.
I don't like the taste of alcohol, so it's only ciders and Tsingtao beer for me. ^^ Never drank enough to get drunk, though.
necking everyone else? does it matter what gender? i know when i'm drunk i tend to be more okay with making out or being touched by a guy...
Bah, drinking to brag = lame. However, savoring good liquid (from aged scotch to smooth vodka to a good beer) is different.
Not really during the year, except for a glass of wine here and there, but in the summer? Most definately.
I tasted something new.
It's called witch's brew. made from gin, sugar, fruit juice and water. 6% alcohol. Tasted like freaking medicine, kinda like a vodka cruiser, only it tastes bad and is cheaper. I mean it sells for 20 pesos while a cruiser goes for 70+ pesos.
Something the catholic high school girls are selling... :p
Hm. I drink. My favorite drink is whiskey sour with amaretto. It's sweet and sour at the same time....great combination.
People say I'm a sleepy drunk. I tend to get really calm and relaxed after I drink. I've never been drunk, though I've been buzzed.
I've recently found that a few sips (key word "sip") of alcohol at dinnertime gives me a good night's sleep. :) I wake up in a good mood too, which is a nice change from the usual cranky morning.
Yeah, or one bottle of beer /shot of vodka before/after dinner should have the same effect...
Four beers and three shots of rum... then I drove the 3 minutes to my house and chilled on the couch. Party got moved from practically right next door to half an hour away soooooo I thought sleep would be a better alternative.
Though, I was pretty pumped to play beer pong and Moose. Haven't drank in a long long long time so this is hitting me pretty hard.
my personal fave = ice wine. The sweet stuff that come in slim wine bottles. ^^; Other than that, I'd usually have a vodka cruiser. I'd drink two bottles but I easily get bloated :x
I never did like beer. When I was a kid, my nanny forced me to drink some XD I never did get over the trauma.
You've all heard my beer stories from when I was 3. But I'm into white russians...and the seven-and-seven (7up and Segram 7 whiskey). But I drink slowly so that I can still function enough to play video games.
I've had beer once, when I was . . four. I thought my dad's glass of beer was apple juice, and yeah, I took a huge gulp of it. x__X;
Otherwise, I'm pretty clean.
This thread makes me want to get drunkish in my tub so if I start vomitting, it won't be too hard to clean up. Unfortunately the glasses will probably break if dropped on the ceramic tile floor ._.;.
I've been known to have the occasional drink.
I used to go out and party alot, but in the last few months i've stopped it cause it was getting boring, being drunk isn't fun if you're totally bored.
I was talking to a med student and thought this was pretty clever. So what exactly is a hangover? A hangover is pretty much the dehydrating effect because of excessive consumption of alcohol. How can we mitigate the dehydrating effects of alcohol? Drinking plenty of water after excessive consumption of alcohol. How do we improve and make oral consumption of water more efficient? Administer water directly into the veins. How do we do that? Use a saline IV (hence intravenous) drip. Med students can get a load of those Baxter saline bags for free, or regular people can buy it from medical supply stores. It's not illegal considering all it is, is low concentration salt water.
Anyways, apparently it sobers you up and mitigates your hangover extremely rapidly.
I'll try it one day. There is a medical supply store not too far from my friend's house.
I thought time and only time can make you sober.
Time just makes one old and cranky and want to pick a fight with them young guns, man.
Hmm... think about it. Party till 3 AM, run a IV drip, final at 8:00 AM, bam, you're good to go.
"OMG! DOOD! ARE YOU OKAY?! WHAT HAPPEN?! YOU GET IN A WRECK?!"
"No...went drinking last night. Head...hurt...bad.."
*shrugs* Just don't plan on drinking ever. Don't see a point to it. Never even sipped or accidentally drunk any yet. ^______^
I thought my resolve would get tested more in college, but I think college has had the effect of scaring me off alcohol forever. Once I saw what happens to my friends that party a lot or even a little, ie they have NO IDEA what they did with who the night before (making out with random people, saying things better left unsaid, etc), I just kinda lost even the curiosity.
Kyreii
LOLZ @ IV fun fact...
might try it sometime.
I agree with Yurika Star. It's not fun to drink if the party is boring...
Let's see....what do I have in my referigerator...*goes to look*
Oh yeah, since I just moved into my new place, I've got nothing. But soon it will be STOCKED. So since I don't have a stock to reference, here's just what I like:
Corona
Modelo and Negro Modelo
Schmirnoff Twisters (Orange and Black Rasberry are the best, but I like 'em all)
Rum & Coke
Champagne
Wine (Chardonays are my favourite)
And whatever my boyfriend has at his place. I'm not too picky ^_^
I just sampled Baileys (unmixed) and Sake yesterday...
it was... something.
How was the sake prepared? Cold or hot? Hot sake is good. I don't care much for cold sake. Hot sake is a bit dry and it goes well sushi.
I had Sake once that tasted like paint thinner... it was a bit of a turnoff. I'd love to try it again though.
Personal favourites:
- A good white wine. A nice red is also good, but they tend to give me headaches.
- Good Beer. None of that domestic crap. Most the small breweries in Canada actually make really good beer (like Creemore Springs, but they recently got bought by Molson's- so it'll prolly go downhill), but I wouldn't drink Molson's or Labatt.
- Tequila. It's pretty much the only hard liquor I like. Straight up Tequila shots are awesome. And of course any Margarita is really worth the time and effort.
