Get it out or not?

Is there anyone here who had them? Did you get yours extracted (surgically removed)?

I just found out the other day that I have a growing wisdom tooth and they have to remove it otherwise it's gonna bump to the rest of the teeth, etc.

It's kinda strange that my parents never had them and they just grew a normal set of teeth. :/

I'm scared of pain. (which will hurt more, childbirth or getting a tooth out? lol.)

I'm getting mine out sometime this month. All four are fully-impacted, and they're starting to interfere with my previous orthodontal (orthodental? m'eh... schools out, I don't need spelling or grammar) work.

I'd say get them out.
I know a lot of my friends who had them removed, and there was about 2-3 days where they didn't do much, but were fine after that. If you're fair skinned I've seen it bruise pretty bad though (I'm not looking forward to that).

Just eat lots of jello and yogurt... mmmm.... :D

I'd vote for Childbirth hurting more than wisdom teeth btw ;)

:3 Hmm, so far I haven't experienced this whole wisdom teeth thing. But if the dentist think it's better to get it extracted, then I suggest you should.

For the pain, they give you Vicodin. Just pop a few Vicodin with some beer, you get the best high, ever.

lol @ Eric.

I wish they can like drug me to sleep before they do it. But they don't drug people to sleep here..

I had all of mine surgically removed when I was in the 6th grade (I guess I was 11-ish then) @@; The doctors figured that I wouldn't have enough room for them anyway since I awas already growing an overbite with some other tooth @@;

My gums were numb for the rest of the day, and I spat whenever I talked :B

X3 How cute, raine. xD

I had my bottom ones removed about 2 years ago. I remember the spit too. xD And yeah, it hurt but you'll get over it. :3 My only regret was my parents didn't get ice cream for me, and they were basically trying to feed me steak on the second fucking day despite going against the wishes of my dentist. (Too cruel!)

My last one just came out (right, upper) and it's uncomfortable because I can feel it against my cheeks. @_<; I do believe I can keep this one. And if you're concerned about your rows of teeth warping when they grow out, I suggest you get them taken out.

I have one that's already poked out a little and another that I can trace through my gum. According to my dentist, though, it looks like there's room for them and I won't even have to get them pulled. Though, at this rate, they'll come out fully when I'm 40.

After I got mine taken out (all of them), I was pretty bruised. Wasn't able to open my mouth very wide for about two weeks....>.< but vicodin helped, though it made me dizzy...and sick. o.0 It's a pretty sucky thing to go through, but if the dentist says that you should get them out, do it ^_^ (mine were growing into my other teeth...so there was soreness, which is why i got mine out)

I got mine taken out last january. All four... they stuck an IV in my arm and a minute or so later I was knocked out. When I woke up everything was done and they were wheeling me to my friends car.. it was great :) For the next week or so I was taking Codiene and..I liked it. If you can tolerate a little discomfort, it'll be a good idea.

My dental surgeon said I'd get an IV and he'd get me 'feeling pretty good' and I could turn on my md player and just listen to music... but I'd always assumed I'd be totally under... I should prolly clear that up before it happens, eh? :S

What's a wisdom tooth? And why do they call it that? Is it supposed to make me any wiser? If so, I'm freaking keepin it.

Just kidding.

(okay they don't make you any wiser at all)

Actually, I noticed a definite loss of smartness when mine came out.
