Ok…well, I’ve had my violin for a while now but I’ve never even looked in the case at it. I think I saw it once and put it away. I had a fairly good day today and just got this sudden urge to tinker around with it a bit, my problem is….I don’t even know the fingerings for a violin! I feel like crying because I want to play it so bad but can’t. Can anyone help me with a fingering chart or anything like that for the violin? Please, I'm begging you!!

Actually, this one might be a little easier to read. But you should know, that the voilin is not like the guitar. You can't just put down your fingers anywhere. If you don't have the guide strips on the neck, you are going to want to go down to a music store and have someone put them on. Either that, or you could play it by ear, but it's very difficult at first.

Anyway, good luck!

Jesus... it's been forever since I touched the violin and the piano. I wonder can I still play anything, ahaha.

Pikachu:
I was banned from music most of my life (up until I could make up my own mind) so ha! its all mine! but, the piano is more commonly played then the violin so just think of it as learning one of the greatest instruments ever made.

Eric:
You can play the violin and piano? I envy you...and I'm sure you can play ^_^

I played the violin for a year; I played the piano for ten years. My parents made me do both.... eh.

Yeah, I've done both too. I miss 'em, but I miss the flute more than all three put together. I might take a piano class next semester, but I don't really have the cash, so I gotta rethink that plan...I'd raher save that money and buy a new flute.

Erik:
lol, you have nice parents XD jk

Winter:
I wish I could've taken piano and violin, I was kinda self-taught when it came to music (bah!) I haven't played the flute in over a year...how sad! Buy the flute! lol Just so long as your happy!

I can play piano/read notes (albiet pretty slowly now =T), and I used to play violin but I've very well forgotten the strings and keys. Even looking at the charts Winter posted, I can barely remember. D: But, I think piano and violin are very romantic. Piano moreso... I don't know why.

If I were to chose an instrument to play now, it'll be the sax. I guess I like dance like music.

I played the Piano for 5 years, and I can't play shite anymore... 'tis quite sad actually. But I pursued other things not-music related. I miss it though, and sometimes I'll open our incredibly out-of-tune piano and bum around on it. But I haven't done that in a while either.

My mom took violin throughout her childhood, and then took it back up a while ago. It's pretty inexpensive for beginner lessons, you should consider taking them Shinotenshi :). I dunno how it works where you're from though, but at the school my mom went to they let her take a refresher course; which was only one lesson a week for a month. And they had a few packages where it was only a months worth, and also a 'pay by lesson' rate, so you could take it as you please.

Rien:
I'm pretty much up to speed with sax, guitar, drum, flute, clarinet and trumpet (wow, big difference) but I got all tweaked out when I picked up my violin today, I just set it down and left it for my mum to pick up lol I got all scurred of it!!! *dies* and yeah, the piano is more romantic type...violin is...hard to explain huh lol

Erik:
Sax is pretty fun, but man...the reeds bother my teeth for some reason xP makes 'em feel all funny lol after you get over that (unless its just me) it's go for the gusto.

Sevi:
aww, poor Sevi...just bang around on it, it'll sound good ^_^
wow...I'm proud of your mum and I don't even know her lol I will consider it, I'm sure when I go back to school this fall I'll actually get a teacher instead of just learning on my own. I'm not quite sure how it works either...hm, sounds good, thanks for the advice ^_^

Yah, violin is pretty hard without a teacher. You need someone to keep pushing your fingers back to the right place on the neck, lol!
